Our story
More than 15 years sharing Quechua
For more than 15 years, Movimiento Indio Peruano has promoted the teaching and transmission of Quechua through courses, gatherings, cultural activities and participatory methods.

An experience built class by class
Over these years, MIP has supported hundreds of people on their way into Quechua Chanka: in classrooms, at open gatherings and in activities where the language is genuinely used.
That continuity is the foundation of our classes today: a way of teaching tested with real groups, with our own materials and a community that keeps practising beyond the classroom.
Learning by speaking, singing and playing
From its earliest classes, MIP developed an active, participatory approach: you learn by using the language, not by memorising lists. Sessions combine guided conversation, singing and group activities.
The materials were born in the classroom: posters, guides and exercises designed so every student speaks from the first session.

A methodology built on experience
Word-building games, handmade vocabulary cards, paired conversation and music: every resource was tested and adjusted with real groups until it found its place in the classroom.
That work shaped the methodology we now use in the online classroom too.
The language is also lived
Learning Quechua means listening, speaking, sharing and taking part. MIP's gatherings, music and cultural activities are part of the learning: there the language stops being a subject and becomes a conversation.

Today
A new chapter
Today, Movimiento Indio Peruano brings this experience into the digital world to bring Quechua Chanka closer to people who want to learn it from Peru and from anywhere else.
